Sewer collapse results in NSW heavy vehicle variation

Emergency works to repair a sewer collapse along Donald Street, Hamilton means a temporary variation is now in effect for the region

The NHVR and Transport for NSW are temporarily amending access for certain heavy vehicles due to emergency works resulting from a sewer collapse being required along Donald Street, Hamilton.

The emergency works involve the repairing of a sewer main line following the collapse of a section near 19 Donald Street.

Roughly 15 metres of sewer main needs to be replaced, and workers will be on-site 24/7 in order to minimise disruptions to vehicles in the area.

The detour for the closure is via Stewart Avenue, City Road, Pacific Highway, Newcastle Inner City Bypass, Wallsend Road, Newcastle Inner City Bypass, Hillsborough Road, Macquarie Road, Main Road, Glendale Drive, Lake Road and Thomas Stand and is applicable to Performance Based Standards (PBS) Level 2B vehicles that have a current heavy vehicle access permit with route specific access that includes Donald Street, Hamilton that is impacted by this closure.

The closure is planned to be in effect from November 13 2024 until November 23 2024.
