Queensland-based business fleet solutions provider Sargent is the latest transporter to joint he Australian Trucking Association (ATA) in its month-long campaign to combat anxiety and depression in the industry.

Sargent, which has for some time provided free counselling services to staff, will participate in and implement a number of new procedures to increase the awareness of conditions as part of beyondblue’s Anxiety and Depression Awareness Month.

“Anxiety and depression have been on Sargent’s radar for quite some time now,” the company’s National Sales and Market Manager Grant Harrison says.

“We are also in the process of implementing a national workplace program to raise awareness of depression and its effects, as well as providing direction for staff in terms of helping friends, family and colleagues who show signs of depression.

“The Sargent community will don blue items of clothing for the company’s Wear Blue Day on 23 October, which also serves to raise awareness among staff.”
