Sadleirs strikes deal with Nexus Freight to expand services

Sadleirs teams up with Nexus Freight to expand services into North West Western Australia and Northern Territory

July 15, 2010

Sadleirs Logistics will expand its services into North West Western Australia and the Northern Territory as part of a joint venture with Nexus Freight announced today.

The new business will be known as Sadleirs-Nexus and will be focused on combining the assets of both operators to boost market share.

Road transporter Nexus Freight runs services to remote areas and all major centres in Western Australia, including Gascoyne, Pilbara, West and East Kimberley and the Goldfields.

Sadleirs says the joint venture will allow it to service existing and prospective clients in the regions. Existing Nexus customers will also have access to all of Sadleirs’ services – a move Sadleirs claims will deliver customers a seamless logistics chain.

The companies run depots in regional centres such as Karratha, Broome, Carnarvon, Port Hedland and Darwin.

“We are extremely happy with this link-up with the Nexus team. They are a proven and professional company that perfectly compliments our existing national network,” Sadleirs Logistics Managing Director Ian Cook says.

“This move, along with our current expansion in other states and heavy investment in new infrastructure, will further boost our growth and provides our customers with direct access to North West WA and NT.”

Cook says there is a need for specialist transport services in towns and mining sites in the North West region and the deal with Nexus will help Sadleirs take advantage of it.

Running interstate road and rail services, Sadleirs also operates freight forwarding and customs brokerage services throughout Australia.

Sadleirs earlier this year secured a long-term contract with Pacific National for rail haulage services and beat Toll to a five-year $12 million contract with Clariant Australia.

It is currently constructing new interstate terminals at Kewdale in Western Australia and a logistics centre in Melbourne. Both sites are expected to be built by the end of the year.
