Roads Australia appoints industry leaders to board

Three new board members have been appointed to the Roads Australia board, adding decades of transport industry experience

National body Roads Australia (RA) is announcing the appointment of four new board members, with Jim Betts, Kevin Devlin and Sally Stannard the newest additions to the RA board.

The trio will replace outgoing members Corey Hannett, Gillian Miles and Sergio Cinerari.

Devlin has extensive experience in the transport industry, holding roles across the public and private sectors for two and a half decades. He was most recently appointed director general of the Major Transport Infrastructure Authority in early 2023 after serving as the CEO of Melbourne’s level crossing removal project.

Betts is currently the secretary at the Department of Infrastructure and Transport and arrives at RA with decades of infrastructure experience. He was CEO of Infrastructure NSW for nearly six years.

Stannard meanwhile is currently the acting director general of Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR). She has been involved with the TMR for more than a decade, working in various senior leadership possessions across the department.

RA president Aneetha de Silva welcomes the new three board members and their experience.

“Jim, Kevin and Sally lead the delivery of major infrastructure across their respective jurisdictions and bring decades of transport and infrastructure experience to Roads Australia,” de Silva says.

“As the transport sector faces challenges at both a national and global level, RA continues to be well placed to negotiate these issues, through collaboration between industry and government, further supported by the appointments of leading public servants to the RA board.

“With complex challenges and opportunities right across the transport sector, RA is pleased to continue bringing together transport leaders to tackle these issues and grasp new opportunities.

“I look forward to working with Jim, Kevin and Sally to continue strengthening collaboration between industry and government, delivering integrated transport alongside RA’s member organisations.

“I would also like to pass on my gratitude to Corey Hannett, Gillian Miles and Sergio Cinerari for their invaluable service to the RA board.”

Hannett headed Victoria’s Big Build project for eight years, Miles created the National Women in Transport Network and served as CEO of the National Transport Commission for four years, while Cinerari was the CEO of Downer EDI Works for 11 years.
