RFNSW-Ai Group agreement to benefit members

Road Freight NSW members will receive discounted rates on workplace litigation cases

Road Freight New South Wales (RFNSW) is confident that its new agreement with the Australian Industry (Ai) Group will usher many benefits for members, including legal advice related to industrial relations and workplace law.

RFNSW GM Simon O’Hara says the new agreement offers many improvements for members including a hotline service for advice and urgent matters.

“We are excited as the new partnership means industry representation of RFNSW in industrial relations matters and the continuation of successful advocacy on important matters including the General Carriers Contract Determination,” O’Hara says.

Other benefits of the agreement include:

  • Compliance advice and updates for members covering major developments
  • Information seminars held for members
  • Representation in relation to policy matters of significance to the members
  • Advice and assistance to members in relation to complicated matters
  • Telephone advisory and information service for members via the Ai Group helpline.

O’Hara says RFNSW members will be able to seek immediate advice on various issues such as disciplinary and termination of employment, entitlements under federal and state workplace relations laws, awards and contract determinations, and entitlements and obligations under NSW Work Health and Safety laws.

The agreement will also ensure RFNSW members receive discounted rates on workplace litigation cases compared to those offered by other legal firms.

Ai Group national manager – workplace relations advocacy and policy Brent Ferguson says the agreement will “enhance” the provision of critical advice and support regarding industrial relations and workplace law to RFNSW members.

“Operators in the road transport industry face a particularly challenging range of workplace relations issues. It is essential that they have access to succinct and expert advice,” Ferguson says.

“Ai Group has provided expert advice to members for over 100 years and has long played a leading role in representing the industrial interests of road transport operators.”
