Reid Stockfeeds and TR Group partner for smarter regional transport

TR Group has delivered the first two of four DAF prime movers to the livestock feed supplier to ensure it continues delivering high-quality feed

In the heart of Colbinabbin, Victoria, Reid Stockfeeds remains committed to its mission: delivering high-quality animal feed to farmers across Victoria and southern New South Wales.

With roots stretching back to 1984, the family-owned business has grown into one of Australia’s most trusted feed suppliers — known for its tailored nutrition solutions and focus on service and reliability.

But for Reid, success in agriculture isn’t just about product — it’s about people, relationships, and doing right by customers, employees and the animals that depend on them.

Built on honesty, value for money, and ‘trusted performance’, these principles guide everything Reid does — from innovative feed solutions to hands-on support in the communities they serve.

To maintain this level of customer promise, Reid Stockfeeds understands that it’s not just about what goes into the feed — but also about how it’s delivered. That’s where TR Group, Australia’s leading heavy commercial rental and leasing provider, steps in.

In an ongoing partnership, TR Group has recently delivered the first two of four DAF CF530 Prime Movers to Reid Stockfeeds through a five-year fully maintained operating lease. These trucks have been purpose-built to meet the challenges of regional feed delivery — and are already hard at work across rural Victoria.

Spec’d for the job

Each DAF unit is fitted with Power Take-Offs (PTOs) to operate both tipper and blower systems — an essential configuration for delivering bulk feed into on-farm silos and storage systems.

One of the trucks is also equipped with a specialised handbrake setup that enables controlled trailer creep while tipping — a vital safety enhancement for uneven ground or sloped delivery sites.

“These trucks have been built around the way we work,” Reid Stockfeeds transport manager Jason Shelley says.

“The combination of the blower and tipper setup, plus the trailer creep control, gives our drivers exactly what they need. It’s a smart spec that helps us get the job done safely and efficiently.

“And with TR’s fully maintained lease, we’ve got peace of mind knowing that all our truck costs — including servicing and maintenance — are locked in. That means no surprises and no downtime, which is essential when you’re delivering to farms every day.”

Tailored transport, fully maintained

For TR Group, this delivery is a prime example of its core offering: supplying fit-for-purpose vehicles through fully maintained operating lease solutions.

The company works closely with its customers to ensure every specification aligns with operational needs, safety requirements, and long-term performance goals.

“It’s not just about delivering trucks — it’s about delivering the right truck for the job, and making sure it stays the right truck every day after that,” TR Group national sales manager Rick Halliwell says.

“Our job doesn’t end at handover. We focus on maximising uptime through preventative maintenance, and we stay close to our customers to monitor vehicle performance, reliability, and ensuring it remains fit-for-purpose.

“For Reid, that means peace of mind knowing their trucks are supported, their drivers are safe, and their operations can run smoothly — day in and day out.”

A partnership built on trust and specialisation

Both Reid Stockfeeds and TR Group are specialists in their respective fields. While Reid focuses on producing premium, nutritionally-balanced animal feed, TR Group’s expertise lies in delivering the transport assets that keep critical industries moving — backed by nationwide support and end-to-end fleet management.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to performance, safety and reliability, underpinned by a mutual understanding of the pressures and needs of regional businesses.

With the first DAF CF530s already on the road and performing well, both companies are proving that when values, purpose and capability align, the result is smarter transport and stronger outcomes for the Australian agriculture and transport sectors.
