Recommendations on the road to fleet decarbonisation

Custom Fleet has released an international report and ANZ regional spotlight featuring recommendations to help with wider fleet decarbonisation

Custom Fleet has released its top recommendations to support organisations and fleet decision-makers in fleet decarbonisation following the successful transition to electric vehicles for its entire internal ANZ fleet.

Custom Fleet is part of the global Element Fleet Management group, which has a presence in over 50 countries. It says it has over 1800 customers in Australia and representation across all of New Zealand.

It also controls over 110,000 vehicles and $1.8 billion in assets under its ANZ management.

Its decarbonisation recommendations have come in the wake of its Global Electrification Report.

President, Custom Fleet Christopher Tulloch says fleet decarbonisation is quickly becoming the norm across the region.

“Governments around the globe have set ambitious, near-term carbon reduction and net zero targets, while public sentiment increasingly demands action against climate change,” Tulloch says.

“These developments, coupled with corporate sustainability objectives and regulatory pressures, are propelling organisations worldwide towards the electrification of their fleets.

“As sustainability becomes the standard rather than the exception, we’re seeing organisations in Australia and New Zealand are increasingly recognising the importance of aligning their operations with sustainability targets.”

Four key recommendations have been made in Custom Fleet’s Australia and New Zealand regional spotlight report including:

  • Create a roadmap for fleet decarbonisation.
  • Assess EV readiness
  • Apply telematics data to enable EV transition and operations
  • Design first EV deployment to inform wider fleet’s needs

“We believe the insights and recommendations outlined in this Regional Spotlight can support and empower businesses to better navigate the transition to electric vehicles in line with their financial and sustainability objectives,” Tulloch says.

“At Custom Fleet, we operate within a global network that spans over 50 countries, giving us access to valuable insights, world-leading best practices and learnings that help inform our approach to effective and efficient fleet management, including the electrification and decarbonisation of fleets.”
