Freightliner recalls number of vehicles due to potential fault in the braking system
July 15, 2011
Freightliner Trucks, part of Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific, is recalling a number of vehicles, due to a potential fault in the braking system.
The recall, which affects trucks built between October 2010 and February 2011, centres on the automatic slack adjusters in the brakes.
There is a concern the adjusters could fail to operate, leaving the driver without any effective braking.
As well as contacting owners directly, Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific is advising operators to contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the slack adjusters inspected, and where necessary replaced, free of charge.
