Changes to work diary requirements for Queensland truck drivers have now taken effect.
Truck drivers hauling for primary producers no longer need to fill out a work diary if travelling less than 160km from their base.
The changes to work diary requirements for Queensland truck drivers have now taken effect.
An exemption for drivers carrying freight for primary producers was introduced on June 1 to allow them to do away with a work diary if travelling or working within 160km from their base.
The measure was originally limited to a 100km radius for Queensland primary producers and their drivers but was removed following feedback from the livestock transport industry.
The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) says the exemption will result in less paperwork without compromising driver or public safety.
All other truck drivers in Queensland must still fill out a work diary if they work 100km beyond their base.
Operators and drivers can download the exemption notice and a fact sheet explaining the changes.
