Qube has celebrated the opening of its new bulk storage facility in Picton, Western Australia, easy of Bunbury.

The facility, which was constructed by shed-building partner Q Design + Construct (QDC), has the capacity to store over 300kt of bulk material for export.

It will be utilised for the south-west operations of critical minerals mining company Iluka Resources and will boost Picton’s under coverage storage capacity to 30,000 sqm.

Qube Bulk Director Todd Emmert says the new facility will unlock employment opportunities for locals in the Bunbury area while improving the scope of importers and exporters in the region.

“As a long-term local employer with over 400 employees across the South West, Qube is focused on unlocking opportunities for current and aspiring importers and exporters,” Emmert says.

“Iluka is a great Australian company with large scale operations across WA including Narngulu, Catby and Capel. We are proud to support Iluka in their operations and endeavours.”

QDC delivered the new 3500 sqm facility on an accelerated timeline of 4.5 months, which has also been built to integrate with the existing bulk storage until located at the rear of the site.
