The QTA warns heavy vehicle drivers to allow for extra time when travelling on the M1
The Queensland Trucking Association has released traffic updates for major freight routes throughout the state.
The association issues traffic alerts for the Pacific Motorway/ M1, which will have nightly traffic detours at Varsity Lakes southbound and Burleigh for the next week due to works.
Works to demolish the old bridge at Burleigh (exit 87) will require the M1 to be detoured nightly from April 5 to April 7 between 8PM and 5AM.
According to the QTA, the works and detours may continue into next week.
Southbound traffic can exit the motorway at Varsity Lakes and travel onto Reedy Creek Road and Southport-Burleigh Road before getting back onto the M1 at the Burleigh southbound on-ramp.
For northbound traffic, truck drivers will exit the motorway at Burleigh and travel onto Southport-Burleigh Road and Reedy Creek Road before heading back onto the M1 at the Burleigh northbound on-ramp.
Access through Oyster Creek Drive, Burleigh Heads will also be maintained, while signage will be placed along the detour route to direct motorists.
The QTA warns drivers to allow for extra travel time through these key freight routes.

Traffic alerts has also been issued for the M1 on the Underwood on-ramp, where the on-ramp access locations will change from Tuesday April 12.
The new Lexington Road M1 on-ramp (accessed from the intersection of Logan and Compton Roads) will open and permanently replace the on-ramps at Sports Drive and the T3 at Logan Road.
All motorists, including motor vehicles, buses, and heavy vehicles, will access the M1 towards Brisbane, from the new on-ramp at Lexington Road from 12 April 2022.
Access to Sports Drive will remain open to local traffic, however access to the M1 will be closed.
