A well-known industry member won the QTA Industry Excellence Individual Award over the weekend

The Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) has announced the winners of its Road Freight Industry Awards over the weekend.

Industry giant Mark Tobin of Followmont Transport took home the Industry Excellence Individual Award as recognition for his contribution to Queensland’s transport industry.

The Followmont CEO and managing director received the award for his “instrumental leadership in driving innovation, sustainability and growth within the road freight industry” according to the QTA.

“He has a deep-rooted passion for transport and servicing regional communities,” the QTA says.

“Combined with his dedication to the wellbeing of employees as well as his commitment to supporting many not-for-profits, he has and continues to make a lasting impact.”

Seven awards were given out in total on the night, with Marschall Group of Goondiwindi taking home the Industry Excellence Company Award.

Exodas’ Cheryl Conner was crowned the Trucking Industry Woman of the Year, while both Frasers Livestock Transport’s Luke Cannon and Gabriel Aguilar of South East Queensland Hauliers received the Young Achiever of the Year Award.

The Health and Wellbeing Award went to Wickham Freight Lines, while Brad Train of VE Group AU took home the Professional Driver of the Year Award.

Finally, the Training and Skilling Excellence Award went the way of Strategix Training Group for its Road Ready Program.

QTA president Michael Mahon congratulated all the award winners from the night.

“The excellence awarded at tonight’s QTA Road Freight Industry Awards is a testament to the passion and commitment that people and businesses have for the industry,” he says.

“As an association, we are proud to recognise this great industry that drives the Queensland economy.”
