A shake up of the board has been announced at the Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) following the association’s 48th general meeting.
Held on April 30, 23 member companies attended the meeting as QTA president Paul Kahlert of All Purpose Transport stepped down following four years in the role.
Kahlert handed the job over to newly elected president Michael Mahon, who is also the managing director at MJ Mahon.
Another member of the board in Bryan Smith, formerly from Rocky’s Own, stepped down and didn’t seek renomination, with Sam Mackie (nee Clayton), the managing director of Barnes Auto Co, was elected as the association’s new vice-president.
The QTA also welcomed Followmont Transport chief operating officer Ross Longmire as the newly elected board of directors.
“The QTA is proud to have a diverse board representing small, medium and large businesses from around Queensland in many different sectors of the industry,” the QTA says in its newsletter.
“There are now 12 board of directors with a strong gender balance, including 59 per cent male and 41 per cent female representation.”
As the outgoing president, Paul Kahlert presented his final president’s report at the general meeting.
“This is my final AGM as president of the QTA, which has been a fantastic experience for me at both a personal and professional level,” Kahlert says.
“It’s great to be involved in an organisation where people are the greatest asset. I would like to thank the board and the team at the QTA for your support for the past three years. I would also like to thank the members and our sponsors for their ongoing support.
“The president’s role for me started right in the middle of the COVID pandemic during very challenging times for everyone’s business. Many of us were unsure whether we would still have a company as this was a time of rapid change and uncertainty.
“During this unsettling period, the QTA was the communication oracle for its members and its continue to be very important.”
