Pure Hydrogen enters agreement to produce waste trucks

Pure Hydrogen and Bucher will partner to build zero emission waste collection trucks

Australian clean energy company Pure Hydrogen is entering into an agreement with sustainable machinery developer Bucher to produce waste collection trucks in Australia.

The two companies will collaborate in a new waste management collection initiative that will begin throughout 2022.

Bucher will supply Pure Hydrogen with refuse truck bodies, including electronic side lifter arms and garbage truck compactors.

Starting on July 1 2022, Pure Hydrogen will then use the truck bodies and integrate them with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (HFCEV) before supplying them to Pure Hydrogen’s Australian customers as part of a cleaner waste collection system.

From this arrangement, Pure Hydrogen will become Australia’s leading supplier of hydrogen fuel cell-powered heavy commercial vehicles, forming part of the company’s commitment to provide more sustainable waste management solutions to the public.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Bucher Municipal for the supply of waste collection bodies,” Pure Hydrogen managing director Scott Brown says.

“The market for garbage trucks running on clean green hydrogen fuel is significant and will help what is a very large industry reduce its emissions and fuel costs.”

The two companies have entered a 60-month contract with the option of a one-year extension available.

Pure Hydrogen has recently completed ordering all of the components required for the trial HFCEV truck that will help collect waste in Australia.

Bucher is also pleased to enter into the agreement and work on producing cleaner waste solutions for Australia.

“This partnership with Pure Hydrogen and the introduction of hydrogen powered refuse collection vehicles to the Australian market is an excellent opportunity for Bucher,” Bucher GM of sales and marketing Luke Aitken says.

“Our company believes in solving challenges through technology and we strive to develop new equipment that also maximises uptime and delivers the best return on investment for our customers.”
