Taking over Kalari’s regional Victoria depot is the perfect fit for Ryans existing operations, the company says.
Ryans spokesman Richard Van Bergeijk says the purchase of the Hamilton depot puts Ryans in a better position to distribute throughout Victoria’s south and north-west regions.
“It’s giving us a better vehicle utilisation and increasing economies of scale,” Van Bergeijk says.
“It allows Ryans to do this work from start to finish and will add value to our customers by giving them access to this door-to-door service on a daily basis.”
Ryans had no previous relationship with Kalari until the purchase of the depot earlier this month at an undisclosed price. The sale includes the transition of its customers and five staff to Ryans.
“We continue to enjoy a good working relationship with Kalari and despite it not being part of any plans until recently, it is a good fit for our business,” Van Bergeijk says.
The Warrnambool-based company has three other depots in Horsham, Melbourne and Adelaide.
