Set-up can be used in dual battery systems, allowing for high power usage such as jump starting or winching

Well known automotive electrical component supplier Projecta has released two new voltage-sensitive relays suitable for 12V DC applications.
The company says that the new relays, available as either 100amp or 200amp units, plus a 12V 100Amp Voltage Sensitive Relay Kit, which requires no modification to the vehicle wiring, sense the input voltage of the main battery and automatically connect when the voltage is sufficient.
The load or appliance automatically disconnects when the input voltage drops, preventing flattening of the input battery, while a manual override function is provided to enable the voltage sensitive relay to be engaged even if the automatic system is not activated.
This set-up can be used in dual battery systems, allowing batteries to be paralleled for high power usage such as jump starting or winching, Projecta says.
The new relays are fully sealed to IP66 rating to avoid the ingress of water and dust, they have silver tipped contacts for superior current transfer and have inbuilt surge protection, with an LED indicator to show when the system is engaged.
The 12V 100A Relay Kit includes the relay plus components including 4 metres of main battery cable, auxiliary battery earth cable, battery terminals, lugs, heat shrink and cable ties.
