Program launched for Forklift Safety Week

The Australian Industrial Truck Association will examine new workplace safety guidelines for forklifts at this year's National Forklift Safety Week

The Australian Industrial Truck Association (AITA) will examine new workplace safety guidelines for forklifts at a seminar held for its third annual National Forklift Safety Week.

The seminar,
to be held Tuesday June, 4
at the Novotel Sydney, will
provide an in depth review of the main changes to workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations
related to
the operation of ‘Powered Industrial Trucks’.

AITA President Steve Stewart says the seminar will feature speakers on a range of topics including the implications for training, traffic management and
areas of responsibility for safety issues under the new standard.

“It will also tackle the impact of WHS harmonisation and other legal issues,” Stewart says.

Speakers will include Toyota Material Handling Australia’s Stan Palmer, Ivan Mihaljevic from Crown and Bolzoni Auramo’s Tri Nguyen.

Forkpro Australia’sTodd Brennan and Spanset Training Manager Adam Goulston will examine training implications of the new WHS standards for forklifts while Middletons’ John Makris will cover the legal issues.,

“Once again, the Safety Week will be promoted via safety message posters and stickers that can be positioned in warehouses and other high traffic forklift areas as well as links on members’ web sites promoting the event,” Stewart adds.
