General Tire launches new tyre in Australia

Continental Tyres has announced its latest General Tire product is available for purchase in Australia

Tyre manufacturer Continental Tyres has announced the General Tire Grabber HT6 is officially available for purchase in Australia.

The arrival of the new Grabber HT6 capitalises on the US brand’s reputation for robust strength in its off-road tyre range, offering a more highway-suitable SUV solution that sits alongside the passenger vehicle range.

Ideally suited to Australia’s ever-popular SUV segment, the Grabber HT6 is a next-generation offering from General Tire that boasts outstanding control and braking, prolonged lifespan, protection from damage and indicators on the tyre to provide visual feedback on alignment and tread depth.

“We’re excited to officially launch the General Tire Grabber HT6 in Australia. Designed with comfort and durability in mind, the tyre is a terrific addition to the existing range and offers innovative design features to Australia’s SUV owners,” Continental Tyres managing director Mitchell Golledge says.

Looking at new comfort features – uniform block geometry with low stiffness variation and continuous sipes on tread blocks will create lower noise levels, while closed shoulders on each side of the tyre will increase comfortability.

Additionally, drivers will now be able to ‘read’ their tyre using the Grabber HT6 visual monitor technology.

This ensures wheel alignment within the first 1,000km and is shown by even wear on the Visual Alignment Indicator, as the technology includes sun and rain cloud symbol indicators on the tyre tread.

The rain cloud indicator will disappear when the tyre tread reaches 3mm and is no longer recommended for driving on wet roads, while the sun icon will disappear just before the tread reaches the minimum legal tread depth of 1.6mm.

Longevity and toughness are standout features for the Grabber HT6. Stone ejectors provide resistance to tiny stones and gravel that may otherwise get stuck in a tyre’s tread. The design feature ensures that they are pushed out and ejected from the grooves.

The HT6 also features a higher number of adjacent sipes designed to improve braking on wet roads. These sipes can effectively drain and push out water from the grooves while maintaining a high contact area between the tyre and road surface.

The new product launch will see General Tire introduce 28 tyre sizes in Australia which cover a broad cross-section of the SUV market, including:

  • Toyota RAV4
  • Nissan X-Trail
  • Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Mazda CX-30
  • Toyota CH-R
  • Jeep Cherokee
  • Honda CR-V
  • Land Rover Discovery Sport
  • Volkswagen Touareg
  • Mercedes Benz GLC/GLB
  • Range Rover and more.

The Grabber HT6 is available for purchase now at all Australian major tyre retailers.
