Volvo helps Followmont Transport celebrate milestone trucks

Volvo and Queensland company Followmont Transport recently recognised their partnership

The Volvo Group Australia recently celebrated its collaboration with Queensland based company Followmont Transport when it hosted a joint event.

The centrepiece of the event was to unveil two milestone Followmont Transport trucks, with the 200th UD and the 300th Volvo truck delivery being shown at the event.

The UD truck was a UD Croner 6 x 2, while the Volvo vehicle was a Volvo FH16 XXL.

Both trucks had a special twist to them, with the UD being a bright red while the Volvo had a gradient blue emblem on both sides to represent the two states that Followmont operates from.

In addition to the unveiling of the trucks, there was a panel interview discussing the state of the transport industry and Followmont Transport itself featuring Volvo’s CEO Martin Merrick.

Including the likes of UD Trucks vice-president Lauren Downs, Mack Trucks vice-president Tom Chapman and Followmont Transport CEO Mark Tobin, the group discussed their views on the transport industry and what the future may look like.

“This event and these two trucks are a symbol of the partnership between our brands,” Tobin says.

“It started off as a supply and demand need to one which has flourished over the decades to become one which is built off trust and communication.

“We know each other’s businesses and work together to not only contribute but to strengthen the transport industry as a whole.”

The panel also discussed the industry and Followmont’s current staffing struggles, with the business shedding light on the opportunities available in the transport industry currently.

The panel discussed the challenges facing the transport industry

“Whatever your background, age or ethnicity, there is a place for you within transport and we are an industry which cares and accepts you as one of the family,” Tobin says.

Panellist Martin Merrick says he was excited to take part in the event with Followmont Transport.

“Marking milestones such as this with valued customers makes us proud to have played a part in their success,” he says.

“We don’t just sell trucks; we forge meaningful partnerships that are based on trust and integrity.”
