The 750 E-Transits will join Penske’s rental and leasing fleet later this year
Penske Truck Leasing has placed an order for 750 Ford Motor electric E-Transit cargo vans, following Walmart in becoming a customer of Ford’s electric vehicles.
With companies like FedEx, UPS and Deutsche Post all experimenting with electric cargo vehicles as part of their zero-emission vehicle plans, Penske expects to take delivery of the first electric vehicles in the coming weeks.
Having successfully piloted the vehicles late last year, the 750 E-Transits will be used as part of its rental and leasing fleets.
Penske says the first E-Transit vehicles will become available in Southern California, with other locations around the US to be phased in later this year.
The Ford E-Transits will become the first light-duty electric truck to be made available in Penske’s rental and leasing fleet.
According to the unit’s president Art Vallely, the new vehicles will be offered as both a rental and full-service lease option for Penske customers.
Penske also added that its long-term plans included adding more E-Transit vans to its wider network of rental and leasing locations in the US.

The company chose to order the E-Transits after receiving a pre-production model last year as part of Ford’s commercial business pilot program.
Penske will display the Ford E-Transit and other electric vehicles within its booth at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in California.
The E-Transit comes in eight configurations, including three different roof heights and lengths, and has an EV driving range of 126 miles.
Ford began deliveries of the 2022 E-Transit in February, when it also announced it had already received 10,000 orders in the US.
