Kenworth wins first annual clean energy award

The truck company has been recognised for its work in zero emissions technology

The Clean and Prosperous Institute announced Kenworth Truck Company as the winner of the first annual David and Patricia Giuliani Clean Energy Entrepreneur Award last week.

The award is a recognition for meaningful advances in clean energy innovation, having been named after the organisation’s founder and his wife as part of the organisation’s fourth annual Future of Carbon Policy Forum.

Kenworth was recognised for its new line of electric trucks, which were built in Renton.

“As we work to create clean energy jobs, we began our search with over two dozen Washington companies that epitomised the entrepreneurial spirit of David Giuliani,” Clean and Prosperous Institute board chair Alan Crain says.

“The finalists and our winner demonstrate that decarbonising our state will be an economic engine and our state’s competitive advantage in the years and decades ahead.”

Kenworth was one of three finalists that also included Promus Energy and All-American Marine.

The organisation noted Kenworth’s drive to zero emissions is making true progress with the introduction of its zero emissions T68OE battery electric truck and the successful demonstration project of its hydrogen powered T68O FCEV fuel cell electric vehicle.

These zero-emission class eight trucks have been shown to significantly reduce carbon emissions along congested commercial routes, often located in overburdened communities.

“Kenworth is leading the way in zero emissions solutions,” Kenworth GM and Paccar VP Kevin Baney says.

“The Kenworth T68OE builds upon Kenworth’s heritage of providing fleets and truck operators with productive trucks driven by quality, innovation and technology.”
