Ford E-Transit on the road to a 2022 launch in Australia

Ford's iconic commercial hauler in electric guise is set to lob sometime this year

Ford E-Transit, the electric version of the Blue Oval’s iconic commercial van is now shipping to U.S customers with the Australian release expected midway through this year.

The popular E-Transit already has more than 10,000 orders from businesses of all sizes and Ford says it is working on ways to increase production.

The all-new E-Transit is produced at Kansas City assembly plant – Ford’s first U.S. plant to assemble both batteries and all-electric vehicles in-house.

“E-Transit is a testament to the fact that an electric commercial fleet is no longer a vision of tomorrow, but a productivity-boosting modern reality,” said Kumar Galhotra, president of The Americas and international markets group, Ford Motor Company.

E-Transit is part of Ford’s more than US$30 billion (AU$42 billion) investment in electrification through to 2025. By the end of next year, Ford says it will have the global capacity to produce 600,000 battery electric vehicles annually, which includes 200,000-plus Mustang Mach-E SUVs and 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks. The company says it is now working on ways to increase E-Transit production.

E-Transit is designed for work with available features like Pro Power Onboard3 – which turns the vehicle into a mobile generator with up to 2.4 kilowatts of power.

We expect to see the 2022 Ford E-Transit in Australia in Q3 2022 but with supply chain and logistics issues still hampering most industries around the glode, that may change.
