Daimler adds Euro 6 Fuso Fighter to BTS line-up

All Fuso models on show will be Euro 6 or cleaner, Fuso notes

Fuso will present an upgraded medium-duty Fighter with Euro 6 technology at the Brisbane Truck Show (BTS).

The truck’s arrival means Fuso now offers a vehicle with Euro 6 ratings or better in all truck segments, as well as light-duty bus.

The Fighter Euro 6, now on sale, provides medium-duty customers with an option of a durable truck with the latest emission technology as well as the latest safety technology including advanced emergency braking system (AEBS), lane departure warning system (LDWS) and electronic stability program (ESP), Fuso notes.

It also introduces Side Guard Assist technology, available for most models in the Fighter Euro 6 line-up, which can warn drivers of cars, objects, cyclists and pedestrians to left side of the truck that may have been unsighted.

The new Fighter joins the heavy duty Shogun range and Rosa bus in offering customers a Euro 6 solution, while small truck customers can now add the all-electric eCanter, which produces zero local emissions, to their fleets.

The rigid Fighter has also been given an interior upgrade, with highlights including a new multi-function steering wheel, similar to that found in the Shogun.

There is also a new instrument cluster with central digital information screen, as well as new-look dashboard designed to allow the driver easier access to controls.

“We are continuously investing in practical innovation to help drive efficiency and raise safety for our hard working truck drivers and other road users in Australia and the Fighter Euro 6 is the latest example of this,” Fuso Truck and Bus director Alex Müller says.

“We are excited to introduce a Euro 6 emission engine and advanced safety package for Fighter and have a serious proposition for customers who are committed to driving down emissions and raising safety levels wherever they can.”

The Fighter’s 7.5-litre 6M60 six-cylinder engine, available with 240hp (322kW) and 745Nm or 270hp (362kW) and 785Nm, has been upgraded.

The outputs remain the same, although the 240hp unit achieves its maximum torque between 950 rpm and 2,270 rpm instead of between 1,100 rpm and 2,400 rpm.

The Euro 6 Fighter range includes FK, FM and FN models with a mixture of 4×2, 6×2 and 6×4 layouts, tippers, various wheelbases, steel spring and air rear suspension, a choice of two manual and two automatic transmissions, and gross vehicle mass (GVM) ratings of between 11 tonnes and 24 tonnes.

Fuso backs the Fighter Euro 6 with a generous manufacturer warranty which runs for five years or 300,000km to 350,000km (whichever comes first), with the distance depending on the truck specification.
