CMV Truck and Bus acquires Shepparton truck repairer

Family-run business bolsters Volvo product group franchisee network

CMV Truck and Bus have entered an agreement to acquire D&S Truck Repairs in Shepparton, Victoria.

The Victorian-based Volvo product group franchisee will take over the family run business, founded in 1996 by Don and Sharon Dimstas, which currently represents CMV Truck and Bus and CMI Hino in the region for both parts supply and truck servicing and repairs of Volvo Trucks and Buses, Mack Trucks, UD Trucks as well as Hino Trucks and Buses.

D&S currently employs 13 staff who support a significant customer base in the Shepparton area, all of whom are being offered employment with CMV Truck and Bus.

“The CMV Truck and Bus relationship with D&S truck repairs goes back to the 1990s,” CMV chairman David Simmons says.

“We look forward to bringing the D&S truck repairs business, and their employees, into the CMV Group fold and we’re committed to maintaining the strong customer focus enjoyed by D&S customers in the region.”

D&S director Don Dimstas speaks of his confidence for the future of the relationship.

“With the long history of the two organisations working so closely together, it really felt as though the transition of ownership to the CMV Group was a natural progression,” he says.

“We are delighted that the CMV Group, a family-owned company with similar values to ourselves, has had the opportunity to acquire the business and continue its growth in the Shepparton area.

“Sharon and I have every confidence that the CMV Group will be able to utilise the skills and significant experience of our current employees to help further grow the D&S Truck Repairs business.”

CMV Truck and Bus general manager Miles Crawford thanks the Dimstases for passing on a business that his company finds so attractive.

“Over nearly a quarter of a century, Don and Sharon Dimstas have been outstanding business partners, growing their operation through a continuous focus on customer service, strong communication and business relationships,” Crawford says.

“We look forward to working with Don and Sharon through the transition and supporting all staff and customers moving forward.”

“The CMV Group is passionate about supporting the communities within which we operate and we look forward to maintaining and enhancing the strong presence that D&S Truck Repairs has created in Shepparton and surrounding districts,” Crawford says.

Is it expected that the transfer of ownership of D&S Truck Repairs to CMV Truck and Bus will take effect on April 12, with the Dimstas agreeing to remain with the business for a few months to assist the D&S team with the transition.
