Benz sees recalls on trucks and vans

Actros, Arocs and Vito in frame for various issues

Certain trucks and vans sporting the Mercedes-Benz badge are in line for recalls.

The affected vehicles are 94 Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs trucks model years 2019-2020 and 14 VS20 Vito vans model year 2019.

“If the vehicle is started using a jump-start facility and not the start/stop switch, the vehicle may be automatically switched off while driving,” the trucks recall notice reads.

“If the ignition switches off automatically while driving, this can increase the risk of an accident and/or injury to the driver, vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Owners are requested to arrange a mutually convenient time with any authorised Daimler Truck and Bus dealership to have the switch-off time in the electronic ignition system control unit parameter changed from 30 minutes to the maximum allowable time of 42.5 hours.

In the vans, the head restraints of the rear bench seats may have been installed in some vehicles with the head restraint bars of a different bench seat and/or head restraint variant.

“If the incorrect head restraints have been installed, this could increase risk of a neck injury and/or whip lash for rear passengers should an accident occur,” the vans recall notice reads.

Owners are asked to contact their most convenient Mercedes-Benz retailer for a vehicle inspection and free-of-charge repair.
