Ten battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eVito vans have been handed over to Amazon at its Munich-Daglfing fulfilment centre.

The long-body variant panel vans are operative and feature Amazon's dark grey livery, and charged directly at the fulfilment centre where infrastructure has been installed.

The eVito comprises 85kW of output and 295Nm torque, and the battery capacity of 41kWh delivers a range of between 150 and 184 kilometres from a charging time of six hours.

Daimler notes the vehicles suit last-mile, emission-free transport tasks.

"Inner-city delivery traffic for courier, express and package deliveries is the ideal field of operation for electrically powered vehicles," Mercedes-Benz Vans Germany head of new vehicle sales Stefan Sonntag says.

"That's why we're so happy that Amazon has opted for the eVito and will now also be in a position to offer its drivers and customers in the Munich area all of the advantages which locally emission-free driving with our impressive Mercedes-Benz Vans offers."

More vehicles are planned to further Amazon's electrically operated fleet.

"Amazon recently co-founded 'Climate Pledge' and strives to implement the conditions of the Paris Agreement on climate change in 2040 already – a whole 10 years ahead of the Agreement's defined fulfilment date of 2050," Amazon Europe senior lead for sustainability Adam Elman says

"Strong partnerships such as this one with Daimler will enable us to achieve this aim."
