Recall notice for Hino 300 Series units

Axle issue detected on model year 2018 vehicles

 

Close to 400 Hino 300 Series trucks are the subject of a recall notice due to an axle assembly issue.

The potential problem affects model year 2018 trucks.

“The rear axle housing may have been assembled with an inclined flange and stress may be applied to the axle shafts and/or the hub bearings, resulting in failure,” the notice states.

“If stress is applied to the axle shafts and/or the hub bearings suffer a failure, the vehicle may not operate and could potentially cause an accident and serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail and advised to contact their local Hino dealer to arrange inspection and replacement of rear axle housing where required, free of charge.
