Volvo Group in major truck recall over caliper

Braking function error affects 758 Volvo and Mack MY2018 trucks

More than 750 Volvo and Mack trucks have been recalled owing to a braking issue.

All the vehicles affected by the recall were sold between July 2, 2018 and December 21, 2018.

The largest number (595) of the recalled trucks are from Volvo’s FH13, FH16, FM13, FM11, FMX11 and FMX13 series, while 30 trucks are from Volvo’s FM11, FE8 and FEE7 series, and 133 from Mack’s CLX, CMH and CMM series.

The self-adjusting function in the brake caliper housing of the recalled trucks is said to be out of order.

This can result in reduced braking performance when applying the parking brake or when using the service brake, according to a notice published by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail and advised to contact their nearest Volvo Group Australia repairing dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle, if required.

Owners of affected vehicles can alternatively contact their nearest authorised Volvo Group Australia repairing dealer on 07 3718 3500 or email vga.warranty@volvo.com.
