Door issue leads to Sprinter recall

Fault revealed in some models sold within past year

Certain Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 907/910 Series MY2018 vans are being recalled with issues to their door locks.

On affected Sprinters, the electronically unlocking door locks may have been installed with an incorrect operating lever.

“If the front driver’s hinged door, the load compartment sliding door and the right rear-end door could not be opened from both the inside and the outside,” the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) says.

“In an emergency, the escape route via the right side of the vehicle may not open and could lead to serious injury.”

Users are advised to contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz van retailer to organise a repair, free of charge.

The models affected were sold between August 1, 2018 and November 30, 2018.
