WA Hino is top for skills in competition

Two out of three ain't bad for dealership after truck company's National Skills Contest

Staff from WA Hino have won two of the three category awards in Hino Australia’s recent National Skills Contest, after winning their way through a series of qualifying rounds over the past five months

The final saw 18 of the company’s best sales, parts and service staff compete for the prize, which included an all-expenses paid trip to Japan to watch the annual Hino Japan Skills Contest in October.

After a series of tests incorporating role play scenarios and testing on product knowledge, including the ability to identify genuine parts, Stan Voltemar of WA Hino won the prize for company’s top parts interpreter.

WA Hino’s Thanh Nguyen was first in the competition for service technicians after he and his rivals were tested on their diagnostic, analytical and technical skills in a series of exercises.

The prize for the best sales consultant went to Joel Ferrante, of Prestige Hino in Dandenong, Victoria.

Hino Australia chairman and CEO Steve Lotter says he was impressed by the skills and expertise displayed by staff.

“Once again the contest was incredibly close, as it was throughout the qualifying rounds. I congratulate everyone who participated, it’s fantastic to see such commitment,” he says.
