Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 11 Sprinter vans sold between October 1 and November 30 2017 over missing welds in the vehicle’s front side walls.

The recall notice says some spot welds on the wall which attached hinge reinforcements to the door frame may not have been applied to either the driver’s side or the front passenger side of the van – or both.

The missing welds could compromise the crash safety of that part of the vehicle, the notice said, with potential risk of injury in the event of an accident outside the normal risk.

Consumers are asked to contact their nearest Mercedes-Benz dealer to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle.

The vehicle identification numbers for the affected vehicles are WDB9061552N735177, WDB9062552N734943, WDB9061532N735095, WDB9061532N734941, WDB9061332N734203, WDB9061332N735270, WDB9061532N734942, WDB9061552N735719, WDB9061552N735448, WDB9062552N734944 and WDB9061552N735176.
