A new Application Programming Interface [API] developed by MiX Telematics will streamline data collection for its customers, building a bridge between in-house and third-party business systems, the company says.

The new MiX Integrate API extracts fleet managers’ driver and vehicle data straight from the source and plugs it directly into any third-party system or program.

Using in-depth filtering options and a wide variety of data points, managers can select exactly what information gets uploaded to which business system to simplify fleet-related decision-making.

Key features include a RESTful API, support for OAuth 2.0 and Swagger frameworks, as well "Getting Started" documentation and sample code.

MiX Telematics head of sales and marketing for the Middle East and Asia Brodie von Berg says the new API platform will help improve data analysis and integration for customers.

"Telematics data is invaluable to the safety, efficiency and compliance of a fleet. However, organising this crucial data should be done in a meaningful and accessible way," he says.

"With MiX Integrate, customers can extract the data they need, as they need it, and seamlessly integrate it into their other business systems including payroll and transport management systems."
