Software boosts supply chain tracking

Real-time reporting and viewing has changed the game for BagTrans

Transport company BagTrans has implemented a new logistics software package to help it track products across the supply chain.

BagTrans focuses on delivering palletised products in a business-to-business environment, such as food and retail distribution centres, drug wholesalers, hospitals and department stores.

The company has started using the MobileSTAR package developed by supply chain software developer BluJay Solutions to help manage these, using its core pallet configuration to capture a two-way flow of information for real-time reporting and viewing,

This added functionality allows BagTrans to reduce waste, improve its use of resources, enhance time management, incentivise drivers and gain time-sensitive data regarding delivery events and exceptions.

BagTrans chief operating officer Habib Francis says this enables the company to view workflows and freight movements across its fleet of 120 trucks, from depot to end receiver.

It replaces a previously paper-based last-mile process, which helps BagTrans meet its current and future vision for success and growth in the transport and logistics marketplace.

“This is an excellent milestone achievement for our company,” he says.

“The BluJay mobility solution is a critical initiative for BagTrans’ long-term strategy, and it is very encouraging to see progress made to date.”
