Unimog trio called in over jump-start socket

Electrics vulnerable to short-circuit, recall states

Less than a handful of Mercedes-Benz Unimog trucks are in line for a recall over a possible wiring fault.

“In affected vehicles the electrical lines of the jump-start socket may have been connected incorrectly,” the recall notice reads.

“When a further vehicle is connected for the purpose of starting assistance, an incorrect jump-start socket may result in a short circuit and the electrical lines and jump-start socket may be overloaded.

“If the jump-start socket is in use when overloaded it can cause irreparable damage to the electrical system of the affected vehicle.”

Owners are requested to make contact with an authorised Daimler Truck & Bus Dealership to make arrangements to have the remedy work carried out free of charge.

The VIN numbers of the trucks involved are: WDB4051251V248239, WDB4051252V238748 and WDB4052222V238761
