Iveco updates Daily van and cab chassis range

Iveco Australia has tweaked its Daily van and cab-chassis range in both appearance and impressive improvements

Iveco Australia launched its new Daily range in 2015 but, despite already strong sales, it has been proactive in making a number of changes to make its van and cab-chassis models, making them an even more attractive proposition.

For starters, Iveco has revised its front grille, adopting a horizontal and louvered style in favour of the previous ‘honeycomb’ appearance. However, it’s much more than a cosmetic change according to Iveco, with the new shape allowing for lifting the cooling performance by enabling improved air flow to the radiator and engine bay area.

Inside, the added two-tone seating is a nice touch, giving both cab-chassis and van models a car-like appearance. There’s also an central extra storage area equipped with USB sockets.

Buyers opting to pay extra for the Hi-Matic 8-speed auto transmission will also receive the added bonus of chrome accents on the grille and a two-tone colour dash.

What is immediately noticeable is the interior cab noise – or lack of. Iveco has managed to reduce engine noise by 4dB as well as minimising vibrations through redesigned B Pillar swabs and increased insulation. In addition, quieter airflow comes from shape modifications to the side mirrors

Most interesting is the optional packs available across the van and cab-chassis range. For starters, the Business Premium Pack, aimed at city-bound customers, comes with rear view camera, fog lights, reverse buzzer and the Iveconnect multimedia system with GPS.

Those travelling further afield can add the Comfort Pack to their Business Pack, which brings with it an air-suspended and heated driver’s seat with armrest, no doubt taking into account the cold winter days on rough rural roads. The Comfort Pack also comes with an automatic climate control system.

Alternatively, the Business Pack can be augmented with the Efficiency Pack, which is available on selected models with both single and dual rear wheels.

As well as allowing for increased payload, the Efficiency Pack’s main feature is the ‘Ecoswitch’ function which adapts to situations where the van of cab-chassis model is either empty or partly loaded. The Ecoswitch then kicks in, reducing torque and ultimately fuel consumption.

For those choosing the 2.3 litre 35S model varient, the Efficiency Pack comes with start-stop technology. There’s also a lane departure warning system.

Customers opting to go for the whole deal can choose all three packs.

The updated Daily range with Hi-Matic auto receives the two-tone finish

Marc Quaranta, Iveco product manager for Iveco Australia and New Zealand, says “when combined with the availability of three different option packs, there’s even greater value across the new Daily range, with customers able to select the most relevant specifications for the application.”

Iveco Australia managing director Michael Jonson says the revisions complement the model’s core benefits.

“The range certainly continues to boast many of the market leading features, which include the advanced transmission with the 8-speed Hi-Matic, the highest horsepower engine in the light truck and van segment – up to 205hp and 470Nm of torque – and of course the largest van volume which offers up to 19.6 cubic metres,” Jonson says. “It also offers the largest GVM at 7 tonnes.

“It’s now the best-selling European light cab-chassis in Australia and it continues to make very strong headway in the van market against many of our established competitors.”
