New lubricants from Puma Energy Australia

Company says new lubricants, incorporating molecular technology, offer 'new level of protection'

Oil and fuel supplier Puma Energy Australia has expanded its product range with a new series of lubricants designed to extend the life and condition of industry equipment.

Describing the move as one of Australia’s first, Puma Energy Australia general manager Ray Taylor says the launch brings road-tested CK-4 diesel engine oils onto the market that “protect engines from wear, oil oxidation, filter-plugging, sludge, and soot-thickening, while also meeting or exceeding the new generation of diesel engines with Diesel Particulate Filters”.

“These properties help reduce engine wear and tear and extend oil change intervals, in turn prolonging the productive life of capital equipment while reducing engine downtime,” he says.

Approved by major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including Mack, Cummins and Volvo, Puma Energy says the lubricants are manufactured in Singapore with Group II base oils blended with additives specifically formulated by Puma Energy and its technology partners.

Utilising its ownership of subsidiary Directhaul to trial the new products through central Australia between Darwin and Alice Springs, Taylor says the Puma HD Ultra 15W-40 delivered promising results in its quad road trains.

“These trials have shown a decrease in engine wear iron levels and oil oxidation levels, as well as improved shear stability; keeping the product’s viscosity in grade for the life of the oil change when tested at 100°C,” he says.

With approximately 50 products already, and another 40 in the works for the coming months, the new range spans monograde to multigrade mineral oils and includes semi-synthetic to fully-synthetic oils for high-performance applications.

For rural customers, Puma Energy says its supply chain is able to deliver fuel and lubricants to remote environments across Australia.
