Benz recalls nearly 400 Actros and Arocs models

Vehicles sold in 2016 and 2017 impacted by recall

A recall has been issued of 399 Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs models.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, the issue pertains to the possibility of a loose screw or bolt in the range group catch bolts.

“This would reduce the distance of the catch bolt,” the notice says, “resulting in gear shifting problems and possible failure of the gearshift system.

“The loss of shifting capability during vehicle operation may lead to a loss of forward movement and coasting of the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident for the occupants and the surrounding traffic.”

Affecting vehicles sold nationally between November 18, 2016 and May 9, 2017, Mercedes-Benz says owners are requested to contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle dealership to have their truck inspected and repaired.

The full list of impacted vehicles can be found here.
