Renault base Trafic bumps up boogie

With improved driveability, the Trafic van targets 'those looking for a mid-size van that is easy, safe and fun to drive'

Renault’s entry-level Trafic van has received a 29 per cent boost in power, with grunt from the single turbo 1.6 litre diesel engine now coming in at 85kW.

Torque is also on the rise with twisty force now at 300 of Newton’s metres.

Previous outputs for this engine were 66kW and 260Nm.

This model is also selling for $34,490 drive away until June 30 2017.

The base end of the mid-sized van market has traditionally been a battle ground of petrol powered competitors where a diesel is often the premium powerplant option.

On the back of a record sales year in 2016 for Trafic, the increased oomph of the base model will no doubt add a value statement for both small business owners and fleet buyers.

“This new 85kW engine for the Trafic improves driveability and with its very attractive drive away price it’s now an even better option for anyone looking for a mid-size van that is easy, safe and fun to drive,” Renault LCV senior model line manager Lyndon Healey says.

“And like every other Trafic, it’s comfortable, quiet and of course has a very practical load-space and high payload.”
