Volvo Trucks unveils latest live test

The new test combines a Volvo FH, a paraglider and a Croatian mountain road

Volvo Trucks has successfully completed its latest instalment in its live test series, releasing ‘The Flying Passenger’ stunt overnight.

In the new video, a professional paraglider has teamed up with a Volvo FH model to promote the truck maker’s I-Shift Dual Clutch-equipped powertrain.

Using a mountain road, which includes an overhanging bridge, the truck was tasked to climb while maintaining the required speed to keep the paraglider at a safe height.

Filmed in the Dinaric Alps in Croatia on closed-off roads, Volvo Trucks president Claes Nilsson says the stunt demonstrates the ability of the I-Shift to provide power shift changes that ensure the engine maintains torque when changing gears in tough conditions.

“Meeting deadlines and keeping fuel consumption low, even when driving uphill and on winding roads, are key elements to success for many of our customers,” Nilsson says.

“This test is the perfect way to challenge our recently updated powertrain.

“‘The Flying Passenger’ illustrates in a very concrete and visual way what Volvo Trucks’ performance and driveability is all about.”
