Isuzu Australia undergoes management restructure

Isuzu Australia Limited (IAL) has appointed Andrew Harbison to its sales and marketing director position as part of a management restructure.

Assuming the role next week, Harbison is stepping up from his position as national sales manager, a job he has held for the past three years.

An 11-year servant at Isuzu, Harbison joined the company as Queensland zone manager in 2005 after leaving his position as Holden district sales manager in Queensland.

Among his other positions, he has worked with Auto One Australia and has over a decade's experience with Beaurepaires and Dunlop in both the retail and wholesale operations.

Welcoming the new challenge, he says he is "extremely excited about the opportunities this appointment presents, not only at an organisational level, but on a personal level too."

"This role exposes me to some fascinating aspects of IAL’s operations, so I’m genuinely thrilled to be able to build on and maximise opportunities for the brand," he says.

"A huge focus for me will be continuing to provide our customers with the very best ownership experience possible, and of course, our dealer network will play a vital role in achieving this."

The new structure at Isuzu has also affected national fleet manager Les Spaltman, who has been appointed to the role of national sales manager.

IAL director and chief operating officer Phil Taylor says the change is about a shifting business landscape.

"This change in management approach is strategic, and one we’ve been working towards for some time," he says.

"Whilst Isuzu enjoys market leader status, and has done for many years, competition is increasing, not only in terms of the numbers of manufacturers vying for Australian business, but also in respect to the level of sales and marketing sophistication.

"Andrew’s appointment represents IAL’s response to some of those challenges, and he comes to the role with the right mix of qualifications, experience and business savvy to continue to grow our operations."

The changes will take place from Monday, October 17.
