Special-purpose truck builder Paul Nutzfahrzeuge will again take a range of unique trucks to the show
German custom truck specialist Paul Nutzfahrzeuge has unveiled three of the unique builds it will be taking to the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hannover, Germany this month.
The company, which focuses on building vehicles for specialised applications, has a history of showing off custom-creations at the show.
This year, it will be taking a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4151 AK 6×6, an Agro Mover based on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4, and a Fuso Canter 6c18 D.
The first of the two Benz trucks, the Arocs 4151 AK has been converted from a four-axle 4151 AK 8×8/4 basic chassis to a 6×6, with an air-suspended rear axle and two steered front axles.
The modified truck body features a Hiab loading crane, a winch and a tray behind the driver’s cab.
Upon removing the tray, the company says a “fifth wheel coupling is then freely accessible,” which can be used “to tow an additional low-loader.”
Paul Nutzfahrzeuge says the truck is aimed at the energy industry, which deals with challenging maintenance tasks.
“With this special equipment the vehicle is predestined for maintenance, servicing and replacement of power pylons away from the road and in difficult terrain.”
The second of the Benz models is the Agro Mover, which Paul Nutzfahrzeuge says is an “all-round heavy-duty vehicle in the range of agriculture and forestry as well as in supplementary municipal fields of application.”
Based on a Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2051 AK 4×4, the custom truck can operate at 80km/h through grassland.
The company says the two-axle “Grounder” version will be on display in Hannover, “shown with two path-breaking innovations: a powerful pair consisting of a mechanical rear power take-off and a hydraulic rear power lift will enhance the range of applications of the Agro Mover in the future by the manufacturer-independent operation of heavy rear-mounted attachments.”
When balanced with a front weight of 1.5 tonnes, the rear power lift can raise a load up to 7 tonnes, it says, and up to five different attachments and mounted implements can be used at the once time.
Also equipped with a fifth wheel coupling, the truck maker says the vehicle’s other features include “a height-adjustable hitch ball coupling, LED lighting, a 12V voltage converter at the rear end, a semi-automatic tire pressure control system and all-terrain high-flotation wide base Terra tires as well as an attachment plate for winter services equipment.”
The third truck to be on display at the IAA event is the Fuso Canter 6c18 D, which includes a personnel crew cab for a 1+5 crew, a self-supporting fire engine body made of glass reinforced plastic, and a power take-off-driven fire pump.
Amongst the changes to the Fuso model is the inclusion of an oil cooling system to increase the power take-off to 34kW and the operating time to four hours.
The floor covering is now made of aluminium checker plate, the door opening angles have been increased from 60o to 75o, and the cab has been made both more accessible and more spacious for crew members.
The IAA event begins on September 22.
