Great Wall utes returning to the fray

Chinese motoring brand is taking a second shot at the Australian light commercial market

Great Wall is winding up for a re-launch as the first shipment of Steed utes arrive in Australia.

The previous Great Wall product was originally distributed in this country by Ateco.

However distribution ceased after a legal stoush between Ateco and head office back in China.

This time around, the brand will be standing on its own two feet ahead of a sales release in September.

Great Wall Motors Australia managing director Parker Shi says the all-new Steed dual cab utility would usher in a new era for value in the Australian light commercial market.

“We will launch with a three model line-up boasting a rugged new design, high levels of safety, one-tonne payload and very attractive price points for Australian customers,” Shi says.

“The line-up will include three dual cab versions – a 4×4 diesel, 4×2 diesel and 4×2 petrol – with ESP and six airbags standard on all three models.

“They will all come with a long list of creature comforts, including cruise control, Bluetooth, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning and heated front seats.”

Great Wall Motors Australia took control of Australian and NZ operations on July 1 and has committed to continued service for existing customers and dealers.

“The dealers have been impressed by the new Steed and our commitment to customers,” Shi says.

“We are determined to offer new levels of customer service.

“We have already been overwhelmed by the positive response from many of the existing customers to the new Great Wall Australia organisation.”

Great Wall pricing is expected to be released next month.
