BP senior chemist to explain diesel technology developments
Senior BP fuel expert Garry Whitfield will appear at the upcoming ComVec 2016 conference to explain the company’s developments in cleaner diesel and other fuels.
BP has spruiked the advantages of its latest product, Ultimate Diesel, at motoring and industry gatherings in the first half of the year.
With five years in development, including extensive laboratory and field engine-testing, Ultimate Diesel is designed to remove fuel system deposits that can affect the proper operation of injectors, Whitfield, a senior chemist at the company, says.
“These deposits in injectors can cause poor combustion and power loss, which means more fuel is used with dirty injectors than for the same operation on clean injectors,” he explains.
“Ultimate Diesel cleans the injector, which in turn restores power, so that for the same operation less fuel is used and therefore less CO2 is emitted.”
He adds keeping the fuel system and fuel injectors clean reduces the potential for injector failure, which also reduces the risk of unplanned maintenance.
