Cargo handling equipment manufacturer Kalmar has appointed Antti Kaunonen as its new president.

According to the company, Kaunonen, who has a Doctor of Technology and a MBA, will step up from his current position as the senior vice president of automation and the project division from July 1.

Reporting to Cargotec CEO Mika Vehviläinen, Kaunonen will also be a member of the Cargotec's executive board in the second half of the year.

"Antti has a wide experience of global industrial business and automation," Vehviläinen says.

"His background is a great fit with Kalmar's strategy to combine software and equipment seamlessly together and offer customers solutions that support their operational performance.

"I'm pleased to welcome Antti to lead this global team."

The current president Olli Isotalo is leaving the Cargotec subsidiary to take up the CEO position at Patria, an aerospace company based in Finland with a defence, security, and aviation agenda.

"Kalmar is in a very good shape," Vehviläinen says.

"I want to thank Olli for his magnificent work during his many years with the corporation and wish him the best of success with his new challenges."
