Affected vehicles’ front axles are too wide for local roads, ACCC notice says
Mercedes-Benz Australia has announced a recall of 523 Freightliner Columbia and Sterling trucks as the supplied front axles do not meet Australian standards.
According to the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) notice, the affected models, sold nationally between February, 2008 and August, 2010, are too wide for local roads.
The notice says the “vehicles were manufactured with front axles that do not meet overall width requirements set out by Australian design Rules.”
“An over width vehicle may cause a hazard to other road users.”
Being the supplier of the fellow Daimler subsidiary vehicles, Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific says letters will be sent to the affected owners.
No other course of action has been detailed.
