Telogis updates commercial navigation application

Telogis has updated the navigation section of its mobile enterprise management platform

Telogis has updated its Telogis Navigation – Global Edition (GE) mobile navigation application, the real-time software arm of its telematics and transport management platform.

Telogis says the application has now been optimised for iPhone and iPad devices under the update, and iTunes Store information says the service has been improved for Hours of Service users and customers who utilise the road edit file.

The speed alert frequency and the map download time have also been reduced.

First unveiled in October as one of four new connectivity options for Telogis customers, the application offers directional information for commercial drivers while behind the wheel and on-board map data to remain instructive while passing through points of limited mobile or satellite connectivity.

As part of the company’s mobile enterprise management platform, which aims to provide a “360-degree suite of applications for customisable navigation and critical last-mile instructions,” Telogis says the Navigation – GE application features customised turn-by-turn navigation, based upon truck weight, size, and load; toll-road preference; speed alerts; and U-turn avoidance.

The company says it also uses the feedback from a network of almost 150,000 commercial drivers to tailor information on road conditions, tips, and exceptions to the application.

“With Telogis Navigation, commercial drivers join a broader network of drivers who get real-time, accurate and often mission-critical information about the routes they drive every day – whether they are piloting a service van or a Class 8, long-haul truck,” Telogis Navigation and spatial technology vice president Mark Fryer says.

“Telogis Navigation is tightly integrated with the broad Telogis platform, giving individual drivers and companies everything they need to get where they’re going efficiently, safely and more productively.”

The service requires users to be a Telogis Navigation Global Edition customer.

The iOS app is available here.
