Honeywell acquires mobility applications firm Movilizer

US giant buys enterprise software developer to bolster workflow offering

 

Industrial equipment supplier Honeywell has acquired Movilizer, a creator of mobile enterprise applications, in a move to enhance its cloud platform and connectivity offering.

“Acquiring Movilizer’s cloud software platform advances our vision of the connected worker, driving growth, value through data, and new business models for our customers,” Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions president and CEO Alex Ismail says.

“Movilizer will drive greater productivity and flexibility for our customers and also helps us rapidly expand our software capabilities as a provider for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to enable greater safety, security and productivity for buildings, industrials and workers.”

Joining Honeywell Sensing and Productivity Solution, a business unit within Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions, Movilizer brings a cloud software that aids a distributed workforce create, deploy, and manage workflow solutions across point of sale, the field, and warehousing and distribution centres.

The software can be used to build native applications for clients running SAP or integrate out-of-the-box solutions.

“Movilizer’s Gartner-acclaimed, industry-leading cloud platform technology is the perfect complement to Honeywell’s Workflow Solutions portfolio of mobile productivity technology, including data collection, voice solutions, rugged mobile computers, bar code scanners and workflow printing solutions,” Honeywell Sensing and Productivity Solutions president John Waldron says.

According to Honeywell, Movilizer currently completes over 1.5 million mobile business application transactions each day across 30 countries for its multi-national clients.

After beginning with three former SAP consultants in 2006, the company now has over 100 employees.
