VW announces mixed commercial vehicle result

Transporter and Crafter models up, Caddy and Amarok models down in 2015

Automotive giant Volkswagen Group saw a drop in commercial vehicle movements in 2015, with 430,800 lightweight vehicles sold globally falling 3.5 per cent short of 2014.

The culprit for the decline was the Caddy and the Amarok model ranges, seeing drops of 10.8 per cent and 2.1 per cent respectively.

Volkswagen says the “dip in deliveries is attributable to delays caused by conversion demands”.

However, sales of the Transporter, Multivan, Caravelle, and California meant the T model range increased deliveries by 1.4 per cent over the 12 months compared to 2014.

The Crafter model also grew over the year with global numbers jumping 2.5 per cent.

Both Western and Eastern Europe saw declines in 2015, dropping 2.5 per cent and 17.3 per cent respectively, with Germany seeing an 7.5 per cent dip on the year before.

Spain, Turkey, the Middle East, and the UK bucked the trend and recorded growth.

Woes in Brazil continued to halt sales in South America, with a 35.9 per cent decrease dragging the continent’s numbers down to a 7.5 per cent drop on 2014.
