Technology computer looks to cover all bases with new warehousing computer unit
Logistic equipment provider Zebra Technologies has a new vehicle-mounted computer for the market, launching the Windows 10-capable VC80.
According to the company, the VC80 is suitable for manufacturers, distributors, and transport and logistic organisations as its wireless capabilities make “it the ideal solution for receiving, picking, packing, shipping, cross-dock, and replenishment applications.”
The solution connects mobile workers to host systems, providing them with access to back-end systems and managers with floor operation visibility.
Zebra Technologies says the VC80 can work as a stationary computer off a conveyor system, a dock door, or a mobile workstation kiosk.
“With the new VC80 vehicle-mount mobile computer, Zebra Technologies is reinforcing its commitment to provide the mobile technology necessary to help businesses and their employees work more efficiently,” Zebra Technologies vice president of enterprise mobile computing Joe White says.
“The VC80 strengthens Zebra’s legacy of creating innovative mobile computing solutions for the most rugged environments, coldest supply chains and brightest surroundings.”
Featuring a field-replaceable touchscreen and keypad, the solution can operate in freezer or cold storage environments thanks to temperature sensors and a heated touchscreen.
Running the Embedded Standard 7 or Windows 7 Professional operating system, the company says the VC80 is also backed by dust- and-watertight IP66 sealing and sealed connectors.

Weighing 3.9kg and measuring 265mm 235mm x 90mm, the VC80 is compatible with mobile printers and handheld scanners.
