Iveco revamps Stralis range with CBOC variants

New Stralis models feature reworked exhaust system to increase productivity

Iveco has expanded its Stralis AD/AT range with new ‘clear back of cab’ (CBOC) models in its 8×4 twin steer line-up.

The Italian truck maker says its engineers had to reconfigure the vehicle’s exhaust system to a horizontal orientation to accommodate the CBOC design, while also installing a new modular air intake between the front steer axles.

“The exhaust system’s underframe re-routing does not clash with the operation of rear engine-mounted PTO, ensuring greater suitability for a wider array of body fitment and applications,” Iveco says.

Also among the changes is the repositioning of the fuel and AdBlue tanks to the same side of the vehicle and the addition of a space for a toolbox on the chassis.

Iveco key account manager for commercial and specialised vehicles Joel Read says the move to CBOC variants allows better weight distribution and increased productivity.

“The Stralis 8×4 is already a versatile model that’s being used in applications such as hooklift bin work, refrigerated transport and crane truck work just to name a few,” Read says.

“Until now however, bodybuilders have had to work around the vertical exhaust, air cleaner and other back of cab componentry – with the release of the CBOC configuration, body fitment will become much easier and more efficient.”

Available in day or sleeper cab options, the Stralis CBOC is powered by an Iveco Cursor 13 SCR engine with 333kW (450hp) and 1,622lb ft / 2200Nm or 373kW (500hp) and 1,696lb ft / 2,300Nm.

Rounding out the features is Iveco’s Eurotronic II 16-speed automated transmission; Meritor drive axles; Hendrickson rear suspension; front ABS-equipped disc brakes; rear drum brakes; and an Anti-Slip Regulator.
